Bingtangyu Great Wall Valley Scenic Area

The Bingtangyu Great Wall Valley Scenic Area, located in Daxinzhai Town, Funing District of Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, is 48 kilometers southeast of downtown Qinhuangdao and 36 kilometers southwest of Funing District. It is a representative scenic resort for mountainous tourism of the Great Wall in Qinhuangdao. Besides the Great Wall, the scenic area also boasts tranquil, deep valleys, grotesqueshaped rocks, blooming flowers, rare plants, oddly-distributed primitive forests, and abundant cultural relics. There, crystal-clear streams run all year round like dragons wandering across the valley. Walking upstream, one can see the intertwining texture of the rocky cliffs on both sides, which bear testimony of the geological formations during the Yanshan orogeny when the Pacific plate squeezed the Eurasian plate. The unique geographical and climatic conditions in the area created felsenmeers and boulder fields with the lowest altitude in northern China, as well as the peculiar phenomenon of counter-season freezing. Tourists to the Bingtangyu scenic area can enjoy the magnificent Great Wall, the imposing Yanshan Mountains and crystal-clear streams, and admire the wonders created by Mother Nature.
